Compliance

Schools are required to comply with numerous state and federal regulations. It is a challenge to understand and maintain all the requirements including documentation, training, and personnel responsibilities. To assist our member districts, SIA has model programs, resources and tools. 

Compliance Table - This table provides an overview of many of the regulations school districts must meet.  Use this tool to help schedule trainings for staff, plan budgets and allocate resources. Request Booklet  

Bloodborne Pathogens (Model Program) - Those that may come in contact with blood or other bodily fluids are exposed to potentially infectious materials. Learn More  

Emergency Preparedness (Model Program) - School district personnel must be prepared for a variety of emergencies that can occur on the campus and in the community.  The SIA Emergency Preparedness Guidelines model program outlines the elements schools should consider when creating their plan and can be adapted to the needs of the site. Learn More  

Hazard Communication – Chemicals are used throughout the school district including maintenance shops, science labs, art and shop classes and more.  Hazard communication increases awareness about the chemicals school staff work with every day and outlines safe work practices.  Learn more   

Heat Illness Prevention Plan - The California Code of Regulations requires all employers, including districts, to have a heat illness prevention plan.  SIA’s model plan is designed to assist the district in establishing procedures that meet the regulation and to reduce the risk of heat related illnesses.  Note:  Items noted within brackets – { } require district specific information.  Be sure to complete these items so the entire plan reflects your district’s procedures. .doc Download Sample Program  

Injury and Illness Prevention (Model Program) - To assist districts in providing a safe and healthful workplace, the SIA model Injury and Illness Prevention Program provides an outline of the essential elements of the plan.  All California employers, including school districts, are required to have an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in place and it is often requested when Cal/OSHA visits. Learn More

Storm Water - The SIA Storm Water Group Monitoring Program helps districts meet state storm water regulations for school transportation sites.  Those participating in the program are required to complete monthly, quarterly and annual inspections and reports.  Learn More
