Employee Entrance Evaluations
(Strength Testing)

Various classified jobs within school districts require a significant amount of strength - a level of strength that is not possessed by all job candidates. These positions have been identified as having a high rate of over-exertion injuries, particularly back injuries. SIA has had validation studies performed to identify these positions (specific to each member district) and set minimum strength requirements necessary to perform these jobs safely.
From the onset of our Employee Entrance Evaluation program in 1988 through December of 1997, we have evaluated more than 3,600 applicants from 27 school districts. Of these applicants, 10% failed. Another 12% demonstrated dangerous lifting techniques, and were taught to lift properly during their evaluation.
These evaluations are conducted by health professionals utilizing state-of-the-art assessment equipment that is calibrated daily to ensure accuracy.
