State Defensive Driver Training Classes

Class Objective

To reduce the number, severity and cost of vehicle-related collisions.

Class Description

The Defensive Driving class is a three and one-half hour class that reviews safe driving techniques through video, lecture, test and personal experience.  Students receive a wallet-size completion card.

The Van Driving class is a five-hour class addressing driving risks specific to vans.  The course is designed for Van Pool drivers as well as for drivers whose work responsibilities include driving a van.  During the course you will learn to compensate for the size, weight, and blind spots of your van-characteristics that make driving a van different from driving a car.  Course includes a video presentation, instructor led discussions and individual workbooks for each participants.  Students receive a wallet-size completion card.

Both classes begin promptly at the scheduled times.  Late arrivals will need to be rescheduled.  Students will need a pen or a pencil. 

Fees

Cost per participant: Defensive Driver Training - $24.60 and Van Drivers Training $35.00.  SIA will bill your district once the class has been completed.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel students up to (7) seven days prior to class.  If a student cancels a class after the cancellation date there will be a fee of $24.60.  Substitute students on the day of class are acceptable.

Course Size

This course has a minimum student count of 25 and a maximum student count of 40.

Certification Expiration

The certification achieved by taking the Defensive Driver Training course will expire 48 months (4 yrs.) after taking the course and the Van Driver Training certification will expire 36 months (3 yrs.) after taking the course.  

Reservations

You may make reservations by phone, fax or electronic mail via the Internet.  Classes are filled on a first come – first served basis.  Classes may be cancelled and rescheduled due to low enrollment.

Parking

Is available at participant's expense.  Facilities do not provide validated parking.
