Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

Federal and state law requires equal access for all individuals to physical facilities, programs, services and activities at our schools.  SIA offers assistance and resources to ADA coordinators and other district staff with all aspects of ADA compliance including school site accessibility issues, transition/barrier removal plans, administrative evaluation of programs and emergency evacuation plans. 

Forms and Checklists

ADA Public Notice for District Website – This downloadable file contains the template language for posting a public ADA non-discrimination notice on the district website.  The notice includes the contact information for the district ADA coordinator.  Simply fill in the district name in the appropriate locations and the contact information for the ADA coordinator and the notice is ready to be posted.

ADA Public Notice for Parent/Student Handbook –  This downloadable file is very similar to the above file but is intended to be posted in the parent/student handbook.  The ADA coordinator contact information is still listed but the principal of the school can also be listed as a contact person on this notice.
