Science Safety Handbook for California Public Schools – This publication by the California Department of Education provides information to help make your kindergarten through 12th grade science program safe. It is recommended that all science program instructors have a copy of the handbook.

Emergency Preparedness - School district personnel must be prepared for a variety of emergencies that can occur on the campus and in the community. Employee Entrance Evaluation (E3) - Most classified jobs within our member districts are physically demanding; requiring individuals to lift and carry on a regular basis. Before entering into a position, it is reasonable and appropriate to determine that there is a match between what a position requires physically and the physical ability of the candidate. This is a pre-employment, post offer physical ability test that enables the candidate and school district to screen in candidates whom can perform the job tasks within a position before they begin working. Injury and Illness Prevention - To assist districts in providing a safe and healthful workplace, the SIA model Injury and Illness Prevention Program provides an outline of the essential elements of the plan. All California employers, including school districts, are required to have an Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in place and it is often requested when Cal/OSHA visits. Learn More
CPR and First Aid - SIA has CPR mannequins, videos and first aid equipment available to assist certified instructors in our member districts to conduct training.
